Message: Giving Our All
Reverend Thomas Walters
This past month has been a momentous one for our church and for me. You all welcomed me and my family into your growing and deeply rooted church family. It has been a month of firsts and newness and shaking hands and dinners at each other’s houses and having those shaking of hands turn into hugs and acquaintances turning into budding friendships. You all have welcomed me and mine with open arms and I couldn’t feel more grateful. This church body has been searching for a pastor for some years and you even had someone prophecy that your pastor may still be in seminary, which I was at the time. It is beautiful, though not without discomfort and pain, to see God working God’s will and God’s ways in God’s own timing. I know my family and I feel God’s hand in leading us here to you and we feel so blessed to now be here with you all. My mind goes swiftly to wondering and dreaming about what is ahead of us. I pray we are able to dream big dreams together, dream with God about what God dreams for our community to live into together. But before jumping to what is next, I find it meaningful to take a moment and look back at all that has taken place to get us to this new beginning. All the Bridge pastors and the roles they played in shaping the story of this community, this family. All the ownership this congregation has taken in the life and well being of this place. There has been immense growth over the last several years that we now get to walk into and build upon together.
I look forward to what God will do and how we will join in God’s work in this region in the coming months and years. That is something to be excited about. But first let’s take some time and just thank our sweet God for what God has done to get us to this point. For leading and guiding us this far. I am so thankful that God has brought us together at this time and look forward to walking with our God hand in hand with one another in all that is to come.
Welcome Thomas Walters, our new Pastor!
